Project Phoenix: Rebuilding Identity Through Integration

Context

When FFC and FFBL came together, the merger created both opportunity and challenge. The task wasn’t just structural alignment — it was about building a unified organization with a shared culture, purpose, and identity.

The Challenge

How do you bring two legacy organizations together? From harmonizing structures and compensation to aligning policies, culture, and leadership the integration demanded a holistic approach that addressed both systems and people.

Our Approach

Ascend Consulting partnered with Teneo to design and lead Project Phoenix, a transformation program that combined structure with human-centered change. Key focus areas included:

  • Designing a three-phase organizational transition plan with clear governance.
  • Creating a unified rewards and compensation framework.
  • Building a performance management system, succession pipeline, and talent development strategy.
  • Aligning policies and processes, including a new employee handbook and HRIS upgrades.
  • Conducting culture surveys, workshops, and engagement roadshows to align values and behaviors.
  • Rolling out a robust communication plan to ensure transparency and reinforce mission and vision.

The Impact

Project Phoenix guided the merged entity from uncertainty to clarity. The program established governance for stability, harmonized policies for fairness, and most importantly, created a new organizational identity rooted in resilience, collaboration, and purpose. Today, Phoenix stands as a model of how integration can become a story of renewal.
